Joyful Song is exactly what this book feels like. A big brother's, a family's, and a whole community's ode to the joy of a new baby! Leslea Newman is a master at incorporating LGBTQ+ families and Judasim into her books that become gorgeous windows and mirrors for young readers. I just love the boisterous colors and the boundless energy of the illustrations and text.

Another delightful book from Brendan Wenzel! Follow the adventures of a cat and dog together out and about and on their way home. With Wenzel's now-trademarked style on differing perspectives, little ones will delight in the two views on the same world as dog and cat adventure home! Straightforward text allows for more storytelling through wending illustrations!

A poetic ode to the love between a parent and child as they explore the world around them. They'll always be there for each other, just like nature they're seeing. Warm, lush illustrations make this book feel cozy, like cuddling up with your parent, and perfectly complement the gentle sway of the text.

Golems are one of the best known Jewish monsters, and this book is a sweet and gentle introduction to them and what they represent in Jewish folklore. Kids will identify with Abi, forgetful but just doing his best, and will cheer him on as he takes the initiative to find a way to solve not only the problem of too many golems, but also his problem with learning Hebrew. Abi models resourcefulness and the illustrations are just delightful without being too scary. An original story for sure!

What a stunning book! A little ghost and a little shadow become pen pals through leaves in the same meadow, as one can only be seen at night, and the other during the day, until one meteor shower brings them face to face. A clever and sweet story of finding a friend with gorgeous, whimsical illustrations.

Sometimes you need to get lost to be found. A family in which every person and dog is all out of sorts, ventures to a park for a walk. Even as they make their way through the woods, they still aren't connecting until one young one intentionally wanders away. He finds his way back, but now the whole family is lost! But together, with love and patience, they find their way back, home and to each other. Faith Pray's illustrations invoke a crisp fall day, perfect for families getting out and rebalancing themselves on a hike, with words to match.

Isaac loves the rain. When the soccer game is rained out, when his friends are dodging drops, when thunder shakes the house, everyone but Isaac is glum. Instead, he embraces the rain, finding earthworm friends to help the compost, splashing in puddles, and generally living his best life. A beautiful reminder to rethink your perspectives and find the silver linings. Giles's illustrations are beautiful, and will appeal to fans of Oge Mora, while Thompson's gentle words and refrain reflect Isaac's character. A quiet and lovely book.

A absolutely gorgeous story of a girl and her dad's early morning ride through their city. Inspired by the the real-life Compton Cowboys, Seales has imagined a ride with one such cowboy and his daughter, as told from her perspective. The story is so lovely, with the girl's wonder and awe during the ride shared so keenly, from the sounds of the birds to the brightening sky, and the familiarity of her town from a new perspective. Esperanza's illustrations, which never fail to stun, are incredibly vibrant and full of motion. I loved everything about this story, and particularly the references to Panamanian culture which reflect the author's background. A wonderful father-daughter story, for horse lovers of any age, and just a visual treat for all readers.

An absolute delight of follow up to THE MAGICAL YET, THE CURIOUS WHY is the perfect book to get kids out of their boredom slump and excited to discover all sorts of new things. With the same style of charming illustrations and the energetic rhyme flowing through the pages, this is a great read aloud, and the perfect pick to pull off the shelf when young readers need just the right inspiration to ignite their spark.

A cool look at the history of flight from the perspective of an unremarkable object--a piece of muslin cloth! Illustrations interspersed with photographs give this narrative non-fiction an immersive feel and is a great introduction to all different kinds of flight. A delight to read!

Loved this little Black girl's passion for birds! Named after a bird herself, kids will love Sparrow's energy and will recognize (some of) the same birds she discovers. A great primer for young readers who may want to get into birding, or who just love nature and observing the world around them.

I loved this story of family and celebration, and of neighbors helping neighbors. Kids may relate it to the ending of Encanto, but even if they don't, the community feeling rings true and deep in the heart. I loved the bilingual nature of the book, where the meaning in both languages is clear, but there is a glossary in the back just in case. The illustrations are warm and encompassing, just like Don Manuel and Dona Lila.
