Join kickass YA authors Rebecca Kim Wells, Gabe Jae, and Rory Power as they discuss badass women, feminism, and the rise of YA speculative fiction.
Rebecca Kim Wells is the author of Shatter the Sky, forthcoming from Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers in Summer 2019, and Storm the Earth, forthcoming in Fall 2020. She holds a BA in Political Science from UC Berkeley and an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Simmons College. When not writing, reading, or talking about writing or reading, she sells books at a fiercely independent bookstore in Massachusetts. She can also be found drinking tea, singing along to musicals, or playing soccer. (Usually not all at once.) If she were a hobbit, she would undoubtedly be a Took.
Gabe is a Latinx trans masculine author who writes speculative fiction featuring marginalized characters grappling with identity. When he isn't working on his next book, completing freelance editorial work, or buried under his TBR pile, you’ll likely find him making heart-eyes at the latest article of guys clothes he wants to add to his wardrobe. Gabe is the author of the Beyond the Red trilogy, written under his former pseudonym, Ava Jae, and runs a popular writing-focused YouTube channel, bookishpixie, which currently has over 25,000 subscribers.
Rory Power grew up in New England, where she lives and works as a crime fiction editor and story consultant for TV adaptation. She received a Masters in Prose Fiction from the University of East Anglia, and thinks fondly of her time there, partially because she learned a lot but mostly because there were a ton of bunnies on campus.
