Three Keys (Front Desk #2) (Hardcover)
Mia and her friends are just so wonderful to read. Mia herself, is so smart, kind, generous, dedicated. She’s outspoken and really coming in to her own as she speaks and acts against injustice big and small. But, she’s still a kid and most kids will want to be best friends with her. Here, Mia fights for immigrant rights during election season and Prop 187 is on the ballot. She has to deal with a teacher with a subconscious bias and work her way through that frustration. The book does an excellent job conveying the fear that all immigrants have (documented or not) when being othered and potentially erased. I loved this.

Mia Tang is what we all need right now: hope, strength, perseverance and generosity! Those qualities helped her build a better life in FRONT DESK. Now in THREE KEYS she stretches far beyond family to help friends, enemies, even people she's never met. A great story with a timely focus on immigration issues.
