Selling Your Book

If you're an author, congratulations! Writing (let alone publishing) a book is a huge achievement. Now maybe you're wondering if the new bookstore might want to carry your book?

First, you should know that we love books and their authors. If we didn't, would we have gone to all the trouble of putting all these shelves up and installing a nice coffee shop for you to write in? Would we spend hour upon hour making sure those shelves are filled with the best in science, politics, humor, literature and, yes, Lego books?

Unfortunately, the second thing you should know is that we don't have infinite supplies of time, space, or money. We frequently have to make hard decisions about what to put on our shelves and what to leave out. If we decide not to carry your book, please know that it's not a statement on the worth of your work but simply a decision based on many factors, including economics, available space, current inventory and the specific buying habits of our community.

Still want to try? Okay, the very best way is to contact us via email. (Stopping by unannounced may seem like a good idea, but it's hard for us to listen to your pitch when we're distracted by the constant flurry of tasks, questions and budding emergencies that come with running a bookstore.)

Please send all emails to "info" at "belmontbooks.com" and include the following information:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Telephone Number
  • Email
  • Book's ISBN (if it has one)
  • URL for your blog or website (if you have one)
  • Any images or information about your book
  • Hat size (Just kidding.)

Once we have all the information, our buyers will evaluate the suitability and saleability of your book and let you know whether it's right for our store or not. (This can sometimes take a while, so please be patient.)

Buying and Selling

If your books are available through a commercial publisher or book distributor, we'll arrange to order directly from them. You don't have to do anything else (except maybe sign a few when they come in).

If your books aren't readily available via standard fulfillment channels, we'll arrange with you to get copies and sell them on consignment. Further details on the consignment program are available in our Consignment Agreement.
